Bow

Bystrup Architecture, Design and Engineering

The Bow expresses the overhead line structure as a single form, combining the mast column and arm as a single aesthetic cantilever.

The curved profile of the Bow reflects the streamlined section of high-speed trains. The space created beneath the masts is an arched passage with the inner curved surface of the mast always planar to the train. The tapering steel section is triangular forming a gently curving spine to the bow. This faces out to the landscape and casts shadow on the faces to accent the masts form. The bow profile aims to be distinguishable in the landscape with its organic curved surfaces highlighted as they sprout delicately from the ground like blades of grass.
