The railway passes through areas of natural beauty and sensitive urban environments. This approach applies knowledge of structure, materials and manufacturing to create a bespoke sculptural mast which, in combination with a lightweight family of standard electrification components, creates an elegant system that dramatically reduces the visual prominence of these structures.
Every mast is constructed to the same specification, out of an ultra-high performance (UHPC) concrete structure with a cast-in laser-cut stainless-steel section for all required fixings. The solid, elegant form of the vertical elements contrasts with the lighter filigree language of standard overhead line electrification components which sit within this clearly defined edge.
