Gantries for National Highways
Remaining Competition Submissions
This web page features representative publicity images for each of the remaining eligible schemes [x30] submitted to the Gantries for National Highways Design Competition. This includes the scheme that attracted the second highest overall score that was identified as the runner-up (G36), together with three submissions (G11, G50 and G62) that were commended by the Judging Panel for specific elements of the thematic ideas presented and their challenge to the project brief. All other schemes are illustrated in sequential order of the Unique Registration Number issued to participants to maintain anonymity during the adjudication process.
Runner-Up
John McAslan+Partners
G36
In selecting G36 as the runner-up, the Judging Panel admired the clarity and dynamism of the proposition which articulated the distinction between a sculptural primary mast and cable-stayed lightweight modular gantry truss, that had the potential to be developed into an elegant family of structures.
